NOAC Update, March-31-2015

Dear Fellow NOAC Attendees,

Just a few things as we get closer to NOAC
1) Class & Activity Signups starts TOMORROW, April 1st
2) Group Competition Signups
3) NOAC Meeting Recap, Mar 21
4) Next Payment Due, May 8
5) Medical Forms

1) Class & Activity Signups starts TOMORROW, April 1st
============================================================
Signups for Classes & Activities starts tomorrow, April 1st – no Foolin’. We don’t know what time yet so stay tuned for an email from us or National stating that registration is open.

BEFORE that time, you should log into your NOAC Registration account to make sure there are no problems. There will be a lot of people trying to log in tomorrow and it may take a while to get help from National if you can’t log in. If you haven’t done so yet, see the instructions in the attached presentation.

**** April 1, 2015: Update:

I just checked my NOAC Account and activity signups seem to be OPEN.

Go to your NOAC account at https://registration.oa-bsa.org and log in. You should see a new tab for “Activities” on the left under Events. There you can get descriptions of each class or activity and sign up for them.

Good luck signing up, and let us know if you have any problems.

2) Group Competition Signups
============================================================
For many of the Group Competitions, we can only sign up as a Lodge. If you are interested, please email us at NOAC2015@Portage619.org so we can keep a list of who is interested and sign you up. You can see a list of these on Page 22 of the slideshow (attached to the email).

3) NOAC Meeting Recap, Mar 21
============================================================
If you missed the meeting last weekend, or you just want a recap, we have attached the slide show with some notes. It walks you through logging into your account and filling out your medical form.

4) Next Payment Due, May 8
============================================================
The next payment of $175 is due on May 8th. Unfortunately from April 17-30, the Council office will be moving and unable to process any mail-in payments until after the move. You can still send payments to the old address since they will be held and forwarded to the new office. You can also use the online payment system at:  http://heartofohiocouncil.doubleknot.com/event/noac2015/1664122. Please note that this link is not posted on the Council website, so don’t discard this email.

5) Medical Forms
=======================================
Just like for Summer Camp, you will need a Medical form to attend NOAC, and you will have to have the doctor’s part. ForNOAC, the form is mostly just the 2014 version of the BSA Medical Form, with a special code on it and a slightly different procedure for use:
– Starting at the NOAC Registration site, log in and click on the Event link on the left side of the window.
– There is some more info on the medical process that you should read through on the event page
– Select the “Click to access BSA AHMR System”. This will redirect you to the my.scouting.org website to create another account and log in and process your medical form.
– Basically you will have to fill out some of the info online, print the forms, take them to your doctor to fill out and sign, then scan and upload your completed form.
– Then the NOAC medical staff will review your completed form and contact you with any problems or questions they have.

Some notes:
– We have heard that there are some issues that when printing the forms, not all of the information prints on the form. We have told National abut this, so hopefully it will be fixed soon, but don’t count on it.
– Especially if you have medical issues (don’t meet the height/weight guidelines, have high blood pressure, etc…), you should do you medical as soon as possible. That way, if we need to get a waiver for you to attend NOAC, we will have time to pursue that.
– Since this is basically the same form, you will also be able to use it for Summer Camp if you are doing that too, just be sure to make copies.
– When you are filling out info online it asks for the Contingent Leader’s mobile phone number. Even though we have two co-leaders, the official one on file with National is Greg Coghlan at 440-570-6218

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Yours in Brotherhood,

NOAC 2015 Committee

Advisers – Greg Coghlan, Greg Schultz
